That's (almost) All Folks!
A message from Don G. Campbell, owner of Right Way Business Services.
After 20 years, it's time to close this chapter of my professional life. December 31, 2018, is the last day of operation for Right Way Business Services.
I've been "retiring" for the past 18 months. Now I want to be able to leave town and be completely inaccessible without worrying about customers' needs that could be developing in my absence.
While I wouldn't rule out a short-term project that interests me (something that needs audio, video or photography in particular), I'm not soliciting any business. Thanks to everybody who has allowed me to help them these past two decades. It's been a pleasure.

Is that really you?
How old are the photos of you and your staff that are used with press releases and promotions? Consider updating any photos that are more than three years old. Yes, we know you haven't changed a bit, but updated photos allow you to present contemporary colors and fashions. Presenting material with new photos catches the attention of your audience. Oh yeah, we offer photography services.

Picture perfect fall
Loving the fall days for photography! Blue skies…catch it at the right time of day and you have a great season for exterior building shots. Good time to build the stock photo file for future use too. Leaves haven’t really started changing so we can get scenes that look like summer, but with better skies. A couple of more weeks and we’re shooting fall seasonal photos.

I won't because I can; I can't because I didn't
Just when should a small business advertise? In our work with local, independent businesses we often hear one of these statements:
-We’ve got plenty of business; there’s no need to run promotions.
-Business is down; we don’t have the cash flow to run promotions.
The solution: Develop a plan that takes advantage of what business promotion is and what it isn’t.
Promotions should be part of your budget, just like taxes and utilities. You develop a plan that anticipates the best time to promote and the best ways to promote, then you execute the plan. That means you should develop a reserve fund to pay for promotions when it’s in your best interest to run them. And it doesn’t mean your plan is inflexible. You watch what is working and what isn’t. You perhaps make adjustments for opportunities that weren’t anticipated when you developed your plan.
Promotions involve much more than media advertising. In-store displays, special events, community involvement…they can all be opportunities to build awareness of your brand.
If you run a business in East Tennessee, contact us to see if our experience and expertise fit your need to develop promotional strategies.

Why you need a caller on-hold feature on your business phone
Here are 3 reasons why your customers should hear your custom-created message when they are placed on hold:
1. Cell phone callers need to hear SOME kind of noise when on hold so that they know the call hasn’t been dropped.
2. Many customers are annoyed by radios that are used in on-hold systems. They may not like the station. Sometimes the radio goes out of tune and the customer hears static. Even worse, your customers could hear a commercial from your competitor.
3. An informative and pleasant-sounding message can promote your business, announce new products and services, and provide details of current promotions.
We can help you add an on-hold system or we can enhance your current system by creating your custom message. It’s also easy to revise your message with updated announcements if needed. Contact us and let’s get started.

Building a dialog while on hold
Need customized on-hold messages? It’s better to let your customers hear about your business when they’re on hold instead of forcing them to listen to a radio station that they may not even like…or that could even be promoting your competition. We make it easy to insert information about current promotions into your message-on-hold menu. Contact us for a demo.

Ghost writers in the sky
Our clients know how to run their organizations. Many are business professionals who have earned strong reputations for customer service. They provide top products and services. They know their industries and they stay current on market trends. We’re honored when they ask us to help them tell their stories.
Sometimes a client wants a second opinion on a speech, a business letter or an announcement for the press. As the “outsider looking in” we often help a client review communication efforts from the perspective of customers or other key groups. We’ve ghost written magazine articles and letters for publication by adapting our clients’ stories to easy-to-understand language that uses the appropriate publication style.
Right Way Business Services offers a low-cost way to add a communications consultant to your organization. We specialize in independent businesses and non-profit groups. Get in touch if you would like to explore ways we can enhance your communication strategies.

This week has been advertising copy week. Writing a lot of marketing text for print and for online. As we learned in our first course in ad school, it’s hard to say “you” and “your” too many times. You know?
